So today was the day! I am all packed up and moved. I have said goodbye to Duluth and now I am saying hello (more like welcome back) to the Twin Cities. I miss being in the big busy city. I'm glad I am back, but at the same time I am sad that I have left my dear friends in Duluth. I can see plenty of opportunities open for me here in the Twin Cities. I am excited to explore them.
Before moving all my stuff into my mommy's place, I went straight to my new place to sign the lease. I will be living approximately 10-15 minutes away from campus, at least according to bus. I get to move in on August 29th @ 6pm, but I think I won't start moving till the 30th. The lease officially starts on the first. When I'm all moved in and everything, I think I'm going to take the bus and time how long it's going to take me to get to the places I need to be.
To sum things up, I am excited, yet nervous for this coming school year. I'm not sure if I have posted my fall class schedule yet, but here it is anyway:

Hey all!
I'm in Rochester, MN right now, Home of the Mayo Clinic. I'm having a real great time down here. I'm heading back to the Twin Cities tomorrow afternoon. I'm only staying a night, but hell there's nothing wrong with taking a short trip. Rochester is a nice little city, but there are some people here that are just downright rude. I think it's like that everywhere you go though. Well, just thought I'd check in since I haven't checked in for a week or so now. I decided that I am not going to live at home when I move back to the Cities. I'm going to find a place to live on my own that is closer to school. This will definitely give me more peace of mind. Well, orientation is in two days. I'm looking forward to FINALLY register for classes! I hate not knowing what my schedule is going to be like. This is not allowing to do many things, such as applying for jobs -_-;; Anywho. I'm going to get back to hanging and chilling out. Until next time, peace.

I'm bored and I can't sleep so I decided to do a little blogging. Today was a pretty ordinary day. I woke up, went to work for four hours, came home, took a nap, woke up, went to meet my crewmate and dear friend Reagan for a quick dance session, went to class with Reagan, went on a hike with the class, went back to the instructor's house for homemade popcorn and a small bonfire, then came home. I wish I was more prepared for the weather though. It was a bit cold today, but thankfully Reagan lent me his sweater.
Yesterday, however, was by far one of the most adventurous days that I've had this summer. The experience was AMAZING. At least I thought so, and if you have a great appreciation for graffiti art then you probably would agree with me. Anywho, back to the story. Yesterday Reagan, Daniel (another dear friend of mine), and me went to the Duluth Graffiti Graveyard for the very first time, which is located under the interstate 35 bridge (past the DECC a little). We went there to do a photoshoot just for grins and giggles. Being that Reagan and I are hip-hop dancers, we thought that the graffiti graveyard would be a good location to do a photoshoot (being that graffiti is one of the main elements of hip-hop). My first impression of it was "What? That's it?" because when you walk towards it all you see is a wall with a bunch of tagging on it (mos def NOT art). Once you approach the actual location though, it is absolutely mind-blowing. Being that the location is under a bridge, the "graveyard" is actually split in two and there is a dirty shallow stream that is inbetween the two sides. We started on the right side first just because there was like a ladder type thing wedged into the side so it allowed for easier access. It was WAY harder getting into the left side just because you have to jump the wall to get in, and the wall is pretty high up. The left side has a lot more intriguing pieces, but we didn't get that many shots on that side. As of now we plan to go back next week for a second photoshoot. I should be getting the pictures sometime later on today. I'll blog again sometime this week and post up a few shots from the photoshoot, or I might just create an online photo album where y'all can just click and see all of the pictures. Next week we will be better prepared to explore the graffiti graveyard. Definitely bringing bug spray and a step-ladder for sure. I have plenty of mosquito bites on my legs and arms that I'm scratching at the moment :-P After 3.5 hours, the battery of the camera ran out and we headed home. I was freakin' exhausted afterward. Who knew taking pictures could be so tiring?
So that's a brief overview of what happened at the graffiti graveyard. I'm excited to go back for the second photoshoot! As for tomorrow (or today), I don't have much planned besides my usual Wednesday schedule. Here's what's happening with me tomorrow:
8am - 12pm: Work
(12pm - 12:45pm: Bus waiting and bus travel time, the bus comes at 12:30!)
1pm - 1:30pm: Lunch
2pm - 5pm: Nap
5pm - 5:30pm: Prepare to head out to teach dance class
6pm - 7pm: Funkstyles Dance Class
7pm - 8:30pm: Dance Session
8:30 - rest of the evening: Unplanned, but most likely heading home to relax and sleep
So yeah, that's my usual Wednesday schedule. It's really late so I should get to bed. I'll blog again sometime this week to post up the pictures!!!

Hanging out with a few friends at my place right now. They are all talking about gaming right now. Wanna know what I think about it all...BORING! Anywho, it's summer so all I'm doing is working. I decided not to take classes this summer. I needed a break from school and less stress. I am definitely enjoying my summer so far. I feel like I've been able to live life for the first time in a long time.
I have a month left before I am moving back home. I gave up the apartment that I signed a lease for earlier this year. I kinda regret giving the place up because I lost $600 in doing so, but in the run I want to say that I made a smart choice. I'm just not thrilled about the thought of living with my family. I love my family very very much, but I need to end my days relaxed and to myself. With my family I can't go home to peace, I'll be going home to drama, stress, pressure, and bullshit. Aiyaiyai...
Well, it's really late so I'm gonna get to bed. Peace for now.
Since it's late, I will make this a very short blog. I have some good news to share. Remember the apartment I applied for in my previous post? Well the landlord finally got back to me about it. I have the apartment! It will officially be mine when I meet with him this week to sign the lease and pay the deposit (and of course when I actually move in, which won't be for another 4 months T_T). As promised, I'm giving you all an update on my "house hunt." Yesterday I looked at one place that had two available units. Today I looked at two different places; one place had three available units and the other place was the upstairs unit in a duplex. I will explain the two units I saw yesterday first:
2/18/09 - Downstairs unit
The apartment opens up into the living room, which was rather small. The kitchen was good in size, but didn't have as much counter space as I was hoping for. The bathroom was a bit small. The bedroom was well sized. There's a door in the bedroom that leads outside to the back where there is available off-street parking (which made me a little uneasy).
2/18/09 - Upstairs unit
This unit opened up more to what I felt like was a more suitable entrance area. The kitchen was a little bit smaller than the downstairs unit, but it had more counter space. The living room in this unit was spacious, which I liked. The bathroom was also more spacious in this unit; the colors were more appealing as well. The bedroom was a bit smaller than the downstairs unit, but being that I have twin bed I didn't think it mattered much. This bedroom also had a door that opened up to a stairway outside that led down to the parking spots. I was more okay with this door in this bedroom for two reasons. One, because this door had a light that you could turn on so that you can actually see what's outside. Two, simply because it's the upper unit so it's less of an incentive for those "curious" people who want to peek inside homes.
** The laundry room isn't the greatest, but well lit. It also has storage spaces for bikes, canoes, etc. The windows in this place are brand new so I don't have to worry about cold air leaking in! My current apartment now has terrible windows. Even with the insulation installed, it's still freezing! I could even smell the smoke from the smokers who go out at night (yuck). So I'm happy that the windows are in great condition. This place also had a cozy feel to it so it made me feel comfortable. The landlord is a very nice guy as well; very friendly =D
Cost: $600/month - includes all utilities except internet/cable (but it is cable ready!)
2/19/09 - Downtown location - 3 apartment units
These apartments looked nice, but there were plenty of turnoffs for me. The apartments weren't the problem, it was the apartment complex as a whole and the location of the place. The apartments were much smaller in space, but they looked fancier than the other two units. I really liked the last unit we saw because it looked really stylish. But the good looks of the apartments weren't enough to win my interests:
- This apartment complex is supposedly "no smoking," but when we entered it smelled like cigarettes and it smelled musty. I am a non-smoker, in case you were wondering about the fuss.
- The complex is abnormally warm, stuffy, and humid. Especially the laundry room. As soon as the guy opened up the laundry room to show me how it looked like, I couldn't even see the laundry room because my glasses completely fogged up. The laundry room also had a strong smell of chlorine.
- The location of this complex is located in the part of town that has and is known for having a high crime rate.
- The management company of this complex is shady.
- Last but not least, the cost...
Cost: $650/month + Electric + cable/internet (not cable ready)
2/19/09 - 2 bedroom unit
This place isn't even worth blogging about. It was literally a dump. Not to mention the price.

So the ones I looked at today were a definite no. I submitted an application for the upstairs unit from the one that I saw yesterday. I can totally see myself living there. As soon as I saw the place, I was able to see myself living there. I hope all goes well and I get the place! I will also post an update on that as well. Thanks for reading everyone! Peace.
